This is the iPhone 16 Pro Max in a desktop gaming setup playing Warzone Mobile. This setup essentially turns the iPhone 16 Pro Max into a gaming console. In fact, with the powerful A18 Pro processor inside the 16 Pro Max. This could well be the same type of performance that we could expect from an Apple Game Console, if the rumours about one being released this year are true.

As you can see in the video, I totally maxed out the graphics settings for Warzone Mobile. This included using the Peak graphics quality setting, which is probably the main setting that puts the most stress on the iPhone’s processing.
Although my initial results were really good, I did come across a few issues that I will go into in other videos, probably on my gaming channel. Firstly. Using Un-capped and HDMI will result in a very inconsistent frame rate and you will notice frame drops in the gameplay. I also have this issue on the M4 iPad Pro. However, this isn’t a real problems as we can only play at 60Hz 60FPS anyway from an iPhone or iPad over HDMI. So the FPS setting of High is perfectly suited to this setup.
However, even in High FPS mode I did still notice some from drops or frame duplication. I’m not sure what is causing this. I initially assumed that it was a heat issue, as contrary to what you may be expecting with Apple’s new cooling for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, it still does get very warm with Warzone Mobile. Saying that, this issue could still be a game/software issue and not a hardware issue as many people are still reporting that Warzone Mobile optimisation is still quite bad on many devices.
In the end I did use my phone cooler, which I did have on my iPhone in the video but forgot to mention it, there’s a link to it below. With the phone cooler the iPhone remained very cool, which is super impressive. However, I still noticed some frame drops in both Multiplayer and Battle Royale game modes. Seeing as the phone was very cool at this point and the A18 Pro should comfortably handle these settings. It does maybe hint to an optimisation issue.

Here’s some links to some of the stuff that I was using in the video. The Kensington Thunderbolt dock that I used in the video is now discontinued. However, I would strongly recommend buying a good condition used one, or old stock if you see it anywhere at a good price. I’ve linked to one on Amazon so you can see the port layout of it. There are many USB-C docks that will work. However, if you also use Mac and iPad with USB-C or Thunderbolt, then a compatible Thunderbolt dock will definitely make more sense.
