When I first saw the Diamantina it was from across the main hall of Melbourne’s International Coffee Expo and the sparkles and light reflections caught my eye. Up close I saw how dominant this machine was and “diamonds” is an accurate description as the machine spins on the stand it lights up like a disco ball.
It’s certainly not the style of machine I’d have in my house ( I don’t have the sort of house that this really need to be displayed in) but while I was playing around on the machines and talking to La Pavoni, I noticed two separate instances where someone walked up to machine and immediately pre-ordered one for their homes. Based on the style of the guys that ordered one I’m imagining that they live in a marble mansion with a spiral staircase at the grand entrance, a 15m long kitchen bar – the perfect place to sit one of these machines.
Beyond the ostentatious exterior is an actual beast of a machine that has the very same internals as their top-of-the-line model “Botticelli Specialty” with all the bells an whistles including flow control, dual boiler, PID, mechanical preinfusion.
